The Agriculture Department of the Asunafo South District Assembly has held a Technical Review Meeting to evaluate the quarterly performance of Agricultural Extension Agents (AEAs) across the district.
The meeting formed part of the department’s commitment to strengthening agricultural extension services and ensuring that farmers continue to receive timely and effective technical support. It brought together Agricultural Extension Agents and departmental officials to assess activities carried out during the quarter, review progress made, and identify areas requiring improvement.
During the session, participants presented reports on key extension activities undertaken within their operational areas. Discussions focused on achievements recorded during the quarter, including farmer education, technology dissemination, field demonstrations, monitoring of crop and livestock production, and advisory services provided to farming communities.
The review also provided an opportunity for Extension Agents to openly discuss challenges encountered in the discharge of their duties. Issues such as logistical constraints, changing weather conditions, pest and disease outbreaks, and other operational challenges affecting service delivery were highlighted. Participants collectively explored practical solutions aimed at addressing these concerns.
A major highlight of the meeting was the sharing of best practices and innovative approaches adopted by Extension Agents in different communities. These experiences offered valuable lessons that can be replicated across the district to enhance the effectiveness of extension services and improve farmer engagement.
The meeting concluded with the development of strategies and action plans to strengthen agricultural extension delivery in the coming quarter. Emphasis was placed on improving field supervision, enhancing farmer participation, promoting climate-smart agricultural practices, and ensuring the timely implementation of departmental programmes.
The Agriculture Department reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Agricultural Extension Agents with the necessary technical guidance and coordination to enable them to deliver quality services to farmers. The department expressed confidence that the outcomes of the review meeting will contribute significantly to improving agricultural productivity, strengthening food security, and advancing sustainable agricultural development within the Asunafo South District.
The Asunafo South District Assembly remains committed to promoting agricultural growth through effective extension services, capacity building, and collaborative efforts that empower farmers and enhance livelihoods across the district.
