The Asunafo South District Assembly, through its Social Welfare Department, has distributed livelihood and economic empowerment items to 139 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across the district as part of efforts to improve their socio-economic well-being and promote inclusive development.
The distribution exercise took place on Tuesday, 13th October 2026, and forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups through interventions that promote economic independence, self-reliance and improved living conditions.
Speaking at the event, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Yinkah Benjamin, urged the beneficiaries to take good care of the items presented to them and use them for their intended purposes to improve their livelihoods.
Hon. Yinkah Benjamin further assured the beneficiaries that the support was not a one-time intervention, emphasising that the distribution exercise would not be the end of the Assembly’s efforts to support Persons with Disabilities in the district. He assured them of the Assembly’s continued commitment to their welfare and socio-economic empowerment.
The initiative is intended to provide beneficiaries with opportunities to engage in productive economic activities, generate income and become more financially independent. It also reflects the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that Persons with Disabilities are included in the district’s development agenda.
Through the Social Welfare Department, the Assembly continues to promote the welfare, dignity and inclusion of vulnerable persons by implementing interventions that respond to their needs and create opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.
The Asunafo South District Assembly reiterates its commitment to inclusive development and calls on beneficiaries to make productive use of the items received to achieve lasting benefits for themselves, their families and their communities.
