The Asunafo South District Education Oversight Committee (DEOC) held its meeting in June 2020 to deliberate on key issues affecting education delivery and infrastructure development within the district. 1. GES Permanent Office Accommodation
The Committee discussed the need for a permanent office accommodation for the Ghana Education Service (GES) in the district. Members highlighted the importance of providing a suitable working environment to enhance effective administration, coordination, and supervision of educational activities.
2. Relocation of Girl Model JHS to a Permanent Classroom Block
The Committee considered the relocation of the Girl Model Junior High School (JHS) to a permanent classroom block to provide students with a more conducive learning environment and improve access to quality education.
3. Identification of Infrastructure Deficits and Defects in Schools
Members reviewed the infrastructure challenges affecting schools across the district, including inadequate facilities and defects requiring attention. The Committee emphasized the need for proper assessment, maintenance, and prioritization of school infrastructure projects.
4. Furniture Situation in Schools
The meeting also discussed the furniture needs of schools within the district. Concerns were raised about shortages and the condition of existing furniture, with recommendations made to address the situation to ensure comfortable learning environments for pupils and teachers.
The Asunafo South DEOC reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to address educational challenges and promote improved teaching and learning outcomes throughout the district.
