NEW SENIOR PROGRAM OFFICER FOR SAFE WATER OF THE CONRAD N. HILTON FOUNDATION UNDER THE WASH INITIATIVE VISITS ASUNAFO SOUTH DISTRICT
Following the inception of the District-wide Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) initiative, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, a major partner to IRC Ghana, the lead implementer of the initiative in collaboration with the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council scheduled a four-day working visit for their new senior program officer in charge of WASH, Mr. Nabil Chemaly to familiarize with the District Based Full WASH Coverage Initiative and inspect ongoing interventions.
Leadership of the Asunafo South District Assembly received Mr. Nabil Chemaly on Thursday, 6th October 2022 at the office of the District Chief Executive. At the meeting, the District Planning Officer on behalf of the DCE presented on PowerPoint, progress of work since the inception of the initiative in the district. In the presentation, the Planning Officer demonstrated the commitment levels of key stakeholders such as Nananom, Water and Sanitation Management Teams (WSMTs), Heads of Departments, and the private sector, to ensuring a smooth delivery of the initiative. He also revealed that, the district has so far completed baseline data collection for the preparation of the masterplan.
The Senior Program Officer expressed his satisfaction to the commitment level of the district and the effective coordination of key stakeholders. He encouraged leadership to improve the Assembly’s relationship with the private sector, especially saw mill industries so that they can also come on board as co-partners of the WASH initiative.
