The Electoral Commission of Asunafo South has successfully conducted the election of a new Presiding Member for the Asunafo South District Assembly in accordance with the Local Governance Act and established electoral procedures.
Ahead of the election, Assembly Members interested in contesting for the position were invited to pick and complete nomination forms issued by the Electoral Commission. At the close of nominations, Hon. Owusu Collins emerged as the sole candidate for the position of Presiding Member.
In line with the electoral process, Assembly Members cast their votes through a “Yes” or “No” voting system to either endorse or reject his nomination. Following the voting exercise, all Assembly Members unanimously voted “Yes” in support of Hon. Owusu Collins, leading to his successful election as the new Presiding Member of the Assembly.
Subsequently, Hon. Owusu Collins was officially sworn into office by the Asunafo South District Magistrate, who administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy as required by law.
In his acceptance remarks, Hon. Owusu Collins expressed gratitude to the Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to promote unity, effective governance, and accelerated development within the district.
