The Asunafo South District Assembly, on Thursday, 13th August 2026, held a colourful ceremony at the Conference Hall of the Assembly, Kukuom, to formally inaugurate its District AIDS Committee (DAC).
The event, which brought together key stakeholders, began with an opening prayer and self-introductions, followed by a warm welcome address from the Hon. District Chief Executive/District Coordinating Director.
Remarks were delivered by the Regional Minister’s Representative and the Regional Technical Coordinator of the Ghana AIDS Commission (GAC), both of whom underscored the importance of coordinated district-level action in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
The highlight of the ceremony was the swearing-in of committee members by H/Worsh. Joseph Hamidu Nasigri, followed by the formal declaration of the Committee as duly inaugurated by the Regional Minister’s Representative.
Members of the newly inaugurated Committee were taken through an orientation session facilitated by the Ghana AIDS Commission, equipping them with the knowledge needed to effectively champion HIV/AIDS awareness and response efforts within the district. Selected members also took the opportunity to deliver statements of commitment, pledging their dedication to the Committee’s mandate.
The Hon. DCE delivered closing remarks, thanking all present for their participation, before the ceremony was brought to a close with a closing prayer.
