ASUNAFO SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HOSTS AHAFO REGIONAL 41ST NATIONAL FARMERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

The Asunafo South District Assembly successfully hosted the Ahafo Regional celebration of the 41st National Farmers’ Day at Sankore. The event was organised by the Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council through the Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Ghana Cocoa Board and the Fisheries Commission, Ahafo Region.
The celebration was held under the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” bringing together farmers, fisherfolk, agricultural stakeholders, traditional authorities, and government officials from across the region to honour the critical role of farmers in ensuring food security and regional development.

DCE Delivers Keynote Address
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asunafo South, Hon. Benjamin Yinkah, delivered the keynote address. In his speech, the DCE highlighted the Assembly’s commitment to supporting farmers through extension services, agricultural programmes, and partnerships with relevant agencies to enhance productivity and livelihoods within the district.

Other Dignitaries Present
The event was attended by the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs. Charity Gardiner, heads of departments, and other key stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
The celebration showcased key areas of agriculture including crop production, livestock, fisheries, and cocoa farming, and recognised outstanding farmers for their contribution to sustainable agriculture and rural development.
The Asunafo South District Assembly remains committed to promoting agricultural development, food security, and economic growth in line with national and regional priorities.
