Asunafo South District Assembly Engages Sankore Traditional Council on Physical Planning and Development Control.

The Asunafo South District Assembly has held a stakeholder engagement with the Sankore Traditional Council to strengthen collaboration on physical planning and promote orderly development within the district.
The engagement brought together officials of the Assembly, members of the Traditional Council, and other key stakeholders to discuss issues relating to land use planning, development control, and the issuance of development permits.
During the meeting, the Physical Planning Officer explained that the Sankore Planning Scheme is reviewed every four years to ensure it reflects the community’s growth and development needs. He noted that the latest review has been completed and submitted to the Paramount Chief of Sankore for approval. The Assembly is currently awaiting the Paramount Chief’s endorsement before the revised layout is implemented.
The Physical Planning Officer also took the opportunity to educate members of the Traditional Council on the importance of the planning scheme in guiding sustainable land use, preventing encroachment, and ensuring orderly physical development. He emphasized that close collaboration between the Assembly and the Traditional Council is essential for effective land administration and the successful implementation of the planning scheme.
The meeting also featured a presentation on the issuance of development permits. The speaker explained the distinction between temporary and permanent permits, outlining the purpose and conditions attached to each. Participants were encouraged to ensure that all developments within their communities receive the appropriate planning approvals before construction begins, in line with the country’s planning regulations.
The engagement provided a platform for open dialogue, allowing participants to seek clarification on planning procedures and share concerns regarding land development in the district. The discussions reaffirmed the commitment of both the Asunafo South District Assembly and the Sankore Traditional Council to working together to promote planned, safe, and sustainable development.
