Ahafo Regional YEA Director Engages Key Stakeholders in Security, Health, and Education Sectors

Last week, the Ahafo Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), accompanied by Regional and District staff, embarked on a series of official visits to partner institutions across the region. This initiative aimed to strengthen collaboration, assess operational needs, and reinforce the Agency’s commitment to supporting youth employment across critical sectors.

The delegation’s first point of call was the Ahafo Regional Fire Service Headquarters in Goaso, where they were warmly welcomed by the Regional Fire Commander and his team. As this marked the Regional Director’s first official visit, it served as a symbolic and strategic engagement. Discussions focused on the upcoming launch of the Fire Assistance Module portal, with both parties exploring ways to guide prospective applicants through the process and ensure their proper orientation, supported by professional input from the fire service.

The team then visited the Ahafo Regional Police Command, engaging in fruitful dialogue with the Regional Police Commander and his team. The discussions centered on the transition of qualified YEA beneficiaries into the Ghana Police Service as their current contracts approach completion. Both institutions expressed mutual interest in maintaining a pipeline of well-prepared, motivated personnel.

In continuation of this outreach, the team also visited all district fire and police commanders throughout the region. These engagements further reinforced the importance of local-level coordination in advancing the objectives of YEA.

The visits extended to the various Health and Education Directorates across the region. A common concern raised was the shortage of personnel—particularly nurses and teachers—in rural communities. Directors appealed to YEA to fast-track the recruitment of Community Health Assistants and Community Teaching Assistants to help alleviate the strain on existing staff.

In response, the Regional Director outlined the government’s plans, in partnership with YEA, to significantly scale up recruitment efforts in the coming weeks. He further assured stakeholders of the unwavering commitment of both regional and district YEA offices to fulfilling the vision of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama and the Chief Executive Officer of YEA, Mr. Malik Basintale.

In closing, the Regional Director extended sincere gratitude to the entire team who participated in the engagements, commending their dedication and professionalism. He expressed confidence in their continued efforts to drive impactful youth employment across the Ahafo Region
