I submit to you the detailed report on Nutrition-Oriented Interventions Available in the Asunafo South District on food/drink vendors and School Feeding Caterers of the above unit for your necessary action please.
Nutrition can be explained as the process of providing or obtaining food necessary for health and growth. Adequate nutrition is essential in maintaining optimal quality of life. The growth and development of a nation depends on a healthy labour force, making nutrition an important element in economic growth.
Nutrition-oriented interventions or linkages available in the district include the Girls Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation programme (GIFTS), Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) for pregnant women, Community Infant and Young Child Feeding (CIYCF), Vitamin A Supplementation, Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), as well as interventions for food vendors and school feeding programme contractors.

A number of severe acute malnutrition cases were recorded across 2023, 2024 and 2025. Marasmus cases rose from 4 in 2023 to 6 in 2024, before falling sharply to 2 in 2025. Kwashiorkor cases rose from 1 in 2023 to 3 in 2024, with 1 case recorded in 2025. Total cases managed were 7 in 2023, rising to 11 in 2024 — the highest of the three years — before falling to 3 in 2025.

Diabetes cases rose steadily from 104 in 2023 to 163 in 2024 and 248 in 2025. Hypertension cases also increased each year, from 558 in 2023 to 665 in 2024 and 679 in 2025.
